Recreational Boating is a $1 BILLION DOLLAR industry in Michigan!

That’s right, folks!

Newly compiled economic data from the National Marine Manufacturers Association conclusively proves that recreational boating in the State of Michigan is a $1 billion dollar industry!

Michigan is a global hot-spot for recreational boating.

Our state has:

Over 11,000 inland lakes

4 of the 5 the Great Lakes

Two of the world’s biggest boat parties (Jobbie Nooner and Raft Off)

Over 1 million registered boat users (most densely concentrated in the city of St. Clair Shores)

The Detroit River is an international waterway and is the home port of the Victory Great Lakes Cruise Ship

And we have Lake St. Clair (the USA’s largest and busiest freshwater lake)

And we also have Torch Lake (clearest lake in America; repeatedly voted “Most Beautiful Lake in the USA”)

Recreational Boating is a $1 BILLION DOLLAR industry in Michigan!

According to their study:

Retail expenditures for new boat, motor, trailer, and accessory purchases in Michigan exceeded $1 billion in 2018, an increase of almost 11 percent over 2017 and the ninth consecutive year of growth in the state.

Also, according to a different study conducted earlier this year by the Michigan Port Collaborative, they found that Michigan’s ports and harbors create $19 billion dollars in economic impact AND that the recreational impact far outpaces the commercial impact.
