After Hours (1985) is a surreal black comedy directed by Martin Scorsese and starring Griffin Dunne.
Plot:
Dunne plays Paul Hackett, an ordinary Manhattan office worker who travels downtown for a late-night date in SoHo. What should be a simple romantic encounter becomes an increasingly bizarre nightmare involving eccentric artists, hostile strangers, burglars, punk clubs, misunderstandings and a growing mob that believes Paul is a criminal. Every attempt to get home creates another problem.
The film blends: black comedy, neo-noir, urban paranoia, screwball comedy, Kafkaesque absurdity, and nightmarish suspense.
The cast also includes: Rosanna Arquette, Linda Fiorentino, Teri Garr, Catherine O’Hara, John Heard, Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong.
