The annual Wheatland Music Festival is the biggest jam band festival in Michigan. It was started as a fundraiser for the Mt. Pleasant Food Co-op in 1973.
The music and crowd is a fun combination of hippies, bluegrass and jam-band.
The 160-acre festival site is located about halfway between Big Rapids and Mount Pleasant.
Festival goers take part in workshops, demonstrations, dances, and impromptu jam sessions throughout the site as well as the stage performances, juried arts and crafts and a wide variety of food.
