U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Great Lakes Air and Marine Branch DETROIT SECTOR now hiring (starting pay $75,000/yr)

The USA’s border regions provides a nexus point where 3 transnational threats converge: drug trafficking operations, alien and contraband smugglers and terrorist groups.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Air and Marine Operations (AMO) Great Lakes Air and Marine Branch is headquartered in Michigan and the director is Marc Sledge.

The CBP Great Lakes Air and Marine Branch (GLAMB) headquartered and operational out of Selfridge Air National Guard Base in Harrison Township, Michigan, oversees 10 operational locations throughout the Great Lakes region.

During FY2020 Great Lakes Air and Marine agents conducted 4,776 Flight Hours along with 5,391 Float Hours.

Fiscal Year 2020 enforcement statistics for the Great Lakes region:

• 342 lbs of Meth
• 3,418 lbs of Marijuana
• 18 lbs of Heroin
• 163 lbs of Fentanyl
• 214 weapons
• 182 apprehensions

Along with the above operations and enforcement activities the Great Lakes Air and Marine Branch Mobile Command Center facilitated communications at 12 national level security events which included Super Bowl LIV in Miami, the Kentucky Derby and Operation Legend in Las Vegas.

Air and Marine agents command multiple vessels, operate sophisticated detection systems, and fly airplanes, helicopters and unmanned aerial surveillance platforms to stop terrorist attacks and the unlawful movement of people, illegal drugs and contraband into the United States by land, air, and sea.

Nationally, the CBP’s AMO has approximately 1,800 federal agents and mission support personnel, 240 aircraft, and 300 marine vessels operating throughout the United States, Puerto Rico, and U.S. Virgin Islands, AMO conducts its mission in the air and maritime environments at and beyond the border, and within the nation’s interior.

Detroit Sector area of responsibility includes Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio.

Detroit Sector was one of the first two Border Patrol Sectors created back in 1924, the same year the Border Patrol was created.
