Lloyd Kaufman has been making films for almost 50 years.
He co-founded Troma Entertainment in 1974 in New York City. Troma specializes in low-budget off the wall horror films.
His first big hit film, The Toxic Avenger, came out in 1984.
Plot of The Toxic Avenger:
Tromaville, a small fictional town in New Jersey, is being terrorized by criminals who are slowly taking control of the residents.
Melvin, a nerdy janitor at the local health club, falls into a vat of toxic waste and becomes The Toxic Avenger, a superhero who can save Tromaville from criminals.
The Toxic Avenger spawned three sequels, an action figure line, a stage production musical, a Marvel Comic and an animated children’s television series.
