As the city of New Baltimore continues working out plans to acquire Schmid Marina, a planning and design firm is helping to determine its feasibility.
Preliminary findings presented by Edgewater Resources President/Principal Gregory Weykamp showed a generally positive outlook for the city’s plan to purchase the marina and convert it into a public recreational area. Significant renovations are needed at the marina, he said, but the plan could ultimately pay off for the city in the end.
“I think you have a lot of opportunities here,” Weykamp told city council members during a work study meeting on April 25. “We don’t have to be particularly aggressive to make improvements and generate the revenues that should support those improvements.”
