Tarantula Hawk Wasps

Female tarantula hawks are the ones who hunts tarantulas.

Their habitat is the desert scrub and wherever you find tarantulas.

The U.S. State of New Mexico made the tarantula hawk their state insect in 1989.

The tarantula hawk wasp is famous for, among other things, having one of the most painful stings in the entire insect world—second only to the bullet ant of the Central and South American rainforests.
