Spencer Park Annual Pond Hockey Classic (Rochester Hills, Michigan)

The Spencer Park Pond Hockey Classic (SPPHC) is an annual event (weather permitting) held on Carter Lake at Spencer Park.

Designed to be a fun and friendly 3-on-3 tournament open to any non-professional hockey players, 18 years and older.

The SPPHC is a 3 on 3, no goalie event for hockey players 18 and up. Registration is $100 (price increases February 3rd) and includes a minimum of three games plus pizza and a drink for each participant. Prizes are awarded to the top teams and space is limited.

Registration

A combination round robin and bracket style tournament to provide a minimum of 3 games in one action packed Saturday. Tournament entry is $100 per team. Registration includes a minimum of 3 games, pizza, and a drink for each team member.

Event Details

Due to the limited size of the tournament there are no official divisions, however we try to organize teams in an effort to create the best experience for all participants.
Teams of up to 5 may be formed to play in a no-goalie, 3-on-3 structure.
Volunteers donate their time to act as Game Managers. Game Managers will officiate, settle disputes and monitor play for penalties.
Mini-games and activities may be available for all participants and spectators. These may include memorabilia raffles, accuracy shootout and chuck-a-puck events.
The Tournament takes place on Carter Lake.
Participants and spectators are invited to use the Boat House warming shelter, located near the fishing pier in Spencer Park.
Water, sports drinks, hot chocolate, food and snacks will be available for purchase in the warming shelter.

Prizes and Awards

First and second place teams will receive prize packages. The first place team will have their team name and player names added to the SPPHC Tournament plaque. Teams that lose their first two games are entered into the Bender Bowl. The winner of the Bender Bowl will receive a prize package. Prizes for winners of the mini-games will also be distributed.
