Selfridge Air National Guard Base in Harrison Township, Michigan (just north of Detroit) is one of the nation’s largest and busiest military installations.
Selfridge Air National Guard Base has a great strategic location, the Michigan ANG 127th wing, base commander Brigadier Gen. John D. Slocum, Starbase and more.
Opened in 1917, Selfridge ANGB has:
9,000 foot long runway
25 miles of paved roads
and about 5,000 people (ie: active duty personnel, civilian employees, reservists and guardsmen).
The Selfridge ANGB Air Show will feature:
300,000 attendees on land
200,000 people watching from boats on Lake St. Clair
In addition to Selfridge assets such as the A-10 Warthog and the KC-135 Stratotanker, numerous other military and civilian acts will be coming to the air show.
The 2020 air show will highlight Vietnam veterans.
“We have a full live-action combat search and rescue with Vietnam-era aircraft coming to the show,” Air Show Director Lt. Col. Brian Donnellon said.
A replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial will be on display to honor those who died in the conflict.
Over 30 warbirds, or vintage military aircraft, will be part of the air show, making it the largest number of warbirds in the air show’s history.
