Porklips Now (1980)

Porklips Now (1980) is a 28-minute long 16mm parody of Francis Ford Coppola’s brilliant Vietnam War film Apocalypse Now (1979).

Made by Ernie Fosselius, Porklips Now is considered one of the greatest short films ever made.

Plot:

Health inspector Dullard (ie: Billy Gray from ‘Father Knows Best) is sent uptown on a dangerous mission to Chinatown to confront the owner of a meat processing shop, Fred Mertz (aka: Madman Mertz), about his “unsound methods” and prices on porklips.

Hearts of Darkness: A Filmmakers Apocalypse (1991) great documentary on the making of Coppola’s film Apocalypse Now. It’s amazing what insanity Coppola and the entire cast and crew endured in order to make this masterpiece.
