Detroit’s annual Motor City Furry Con is a furry fandom and anthropomorphics convention.
People pick a species of animal, assume their chosen Fursona (ie: your furry animal persona), dress up as a fictional non-human anthropomorphic character with human characteristics and role-play and interact with other furries.
Furries, furry fandom, fur cons, all started around 1983. Now there are over 40 annual furry conventions.
The world’s largest is Anthrocon in Pittsburgh with around 10,000 attendees.
We have never been to a fur con but we are told that furries are an inclusive and diverse group of people from all walks of life who like to role-play and appreciate art and creativity.
