Michigan Storm Chasers launched in 2022.
It was started by Ryan Harriott from Dundee, Michigan.
The MCS team livestreams severe weather forecasts and follows severe storms, including tornadoes, on the ground when they touch down.
The goal is to inform residents of severe weather and encourage Michiganders to be weather aware.
Severe weather forecasts for the entire country are issued from the National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Oklahoma.
Any Michigander can take classes through the NWS on storm spotting. Classes can be taken online or arranged through your local NWS office. Smith encouraged others interested in storms to take them. The MSC members have taken the classes many times through the years, Harriott said.
