Michigan Pez Convention

The annual Michigan Pez Convention is coming to Farmington Hills.

The show is open to the general public on Saturday, June 24 from 10am-2pm.

The event featured some of the most famous people in the world of Pez including John Devlin (St. Louis, Missouri), who event organizer Jim Blaine calls “The Godfather” because of his unrivaled Pez knowledge.

Jim Blaine (Hartland, Michigan) himself owns over 17,000 Pez dispensers.

Also, The Pez Outlaw (DeWitt, Michigan’s own Steve Glew) will be there. He is known for smuggling rare Pez dispensers from Europe into the USA.

PEZ Candy began in 1927 in Vienna, Austria, and was first marketed as a compressed peppermint candy. The first PEZ dispenser was introduced in 1948. In 1952 the candy came to the United States, where it is currently manufactured in Orange, Connecticut. The first dispensers were a Santa, full-body robot and the Space Gun, which dispensed PEZ tablets. The world’s only PEZ factory is in Orange, Connecticut.
