Marine City Maritime Days

The Marine City Maritime Days festival takes place in downtown Marine City, Michigan.

The crowning of Miss Maritime will take place at 6 p.m. Aug. 6. Miss Maritime queen contestants include Jade Jarskey, Jazmyne Schulte, Maranda Schulte and Kennedy Street.

Winners of the cutest baby and pet contests will also be announced.

Aug. 7 will kick off with a kids fishing contest for ages 16 and younger from 9 a.m. to noon. Registration will begin at 9 a.m., and prizes will be awarded after the contest. The grand prize winner will receive a bike, and the first-place winners for boys and girls will receive fishing rods. One winner will be chosen at random for a guided fishing trip with Hook One Charters.

A lighted boat parade will take place at dusk on Saturday, August 7.

On Aug. 8, the 28th annual Boy Scout Troop 296 Classic Auto Show will take place at Holy Cross Catholic Church from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. to benefit the troop. The event will include awards, trophies, door prizes and dash plaques for the first 100 participants. Vintage and classic vehicles are welcome. At 1:30 p.m., a new event, Marine City Mayhem pro wrestling, will take place. The doors will open at 1:30 p.m. and the bell time is at 2 p.m. Tickets cost $10 for adults and $5 for kids. Beer will be sold to those 21 and older with an ID.

At 5 p.m., the 50/50 and quilt drawings will take place.

Several events will take place throughout the weekend. The beverage tent will be open from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. Aug. 6, noon to 2 a.m. Aug. 7 and noon to 6 p.m. Aug. 8.

A few music groups will entertain in the beverage tent. On Aug. 6, entertainment will include Eat More Tacos from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Blender from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. On Aug. 7, entertainment will include Black River from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and 86 Noodles from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.

The arts and craft show, which had about 25 vendors signed up as of July 21, will take place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Aug. 7 and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 8 at the historic city hall.
