The Harlem Globetrotters have been providing great family entertainment for almost 100 years now.
Founded in 1926 in Chicago (that’s right, Chicago, not Harlem), the Globetrotters didn’t start doing their comedy antics until 1939 thanks to player Inman Jackson.
In 1950, the NBA started admitting black players to the league thanks to Globetrotter Nat ‘Sweetwater’ Clifton and in 1958, Wilt the Stilt Chamberlain played one year for the Globetrotters, even touring Russia and meeting President Khruschev.
The Harlem Globetrotters have played over 25,000 games!
More than 125 million people in 120 countries have been to a Globetrotters game.
The Globetrotters were headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona until last month when they moved to their new home in Peachtree Corners, Georgia.
Come check them out in Detroit as they battle the Washington Generals.
The game will no doubt be full of ball handling wizardry, trick shots, comedy and fun interaction with the crowd.
