ST. CLAIR SHORES, Mich. – Freedom Boat Club (FBC), the largest boat club operator with more than 260 locations across 31 states, today announced the expansion of its Lake St. Clair franchise with the addition of St. Clair Shores (The Nautical Mile) at the premier Safe Harbor Jefferson Beach Marina, representing the third location for franchise owner and operator Steven Dobreff.
The new Nautical Mile location joins the established Lake St. Clair franchise with locations in Harrison Township at Markley Marina and in Detroit and Sindbad’s Marina, marking the 10th FBC Michigan location and the 27th location on the Great Lakes.
“We are thrilled to continue the expansion of Freedom in our local community and offer our members additional opportunities to explore the Great Lakes along Lake St. Clair,” said Dobreff. “From cruising and sightseeing to on-water adventure and world-class fishing, this new location provides unparalleled boating lifestyle opportunities.”
Dobreff is a Harrison Township native, L’Anse Cruese High School graduate, and an avid boater who grew up on Lake St. Clair. He practiced law in Macomb County for more than 25 years before launching FBC on Lake St. Clair in 2016 after being introduced to the simplicity of the boat club concept when his family moved to Florida in 2013. Dobreff envisioned the potential for success on Lake St. Clair and over the past five years, he has realized his vision expanding to larger marinas and adding new locations to meet the explosion in membership demand fueled by the support from the local community.
“We are thrilled to now be able to offer access to the beautiful waters of Lake St. Clair and the Detroit River to seasoned boaters, as well as newcomers to the boating lifestyle,” said Dobreff. “This proven boat-sharing model allows us to provide an exciting, safe, hassle-free and affordable new opportunity for area boating enthusiasts. It’s a win-win all around.”
FBC of Lake St. Clair club offers a fleet of new name-brand boats including center consoles, dual consoles, bow-riders, and tri-toons. Membership to FBC includes all costs associated with cleaning, storage, maintenance, and insurance. Members enjoy complimentary one-on-one, on-water training and upon completion, have direct access to the club’s online reservation system to book their next boat. Additionally, one of the most distinctive advantages of club membership is reciprocity access to the other 260+ world-wide Freedom Boat Clubs.
“We look forward to actively engaging in the community and hosting a variety of social, boating and fishing events, as well as community activities for our members,” said Dobreff.
Both FBC Lake St. Clair locations will be open for the season on May 1, 2021.
The Grand Opening and ribbon cutting ceremony will take place at Jefferson Beach Marina on Friday, May 21 @ 6:00 p.m.
