The Mexican Patriotic Committee of Metropolitan Detroit will host the 57th Annual Cinco de Mayo Parade on Sunday, May 1,2022.
The 2.2-mile parade route will start from Springwells Street and will travel east along W. Vernor ending at W. Grand Boulevard.
The parade will begin at 12noon.
A cultural and musical fiesta is also planned at Bagley and 21st Streets from 12noon-7pm on Saturday, April 30th & Sunday, May 1st.
Each year, this parade celebrates the Battle of Puebla (Batalla de Puebla) that took place on the 5th of May 1862, near Puebla City, Mexico. The battle ended in a victory over the French Army which galvanized Mexican resistance and led to France retreating completely 6 years later.
The parade also celebrates Detroit’s Latino culture, and the businesses of Southwest Detroit.
