Corktown is Detroit’s oldest neighborhood. It was settled in the 1800’s by immigrants from County Cork, Ireland and maintains an Irish vibe to this day.
The main thoroughfare is Michigan Avenue, and you can immediately identify the “Corktown stretch” of Michigan Ave, because it’s paved with red bricks.
The annual Corktown Music Fest is two days of rock, punk, and folk music from over 75 acts spread across five venues.
The proceeds benefit 4 Paws 1 Heart, a non-profit organization which helps homeless cats and dogs.
