Amalgam, a high-end model car and accessory maker based in the UK, has just introduced a 1:4th-scale model of the quad-turbocharged 8.0-liter W16 engine and seven-speed transmission found in the Bugatti Chiron. It’s easily the coolest model engine we’ve ever seen. Also, it’s nearly $10,000.

The Chiron powertrain is Amalgam’s first engine model since the early 2000s, and measures in at 18 inches long and nine inches high. According to the company’s site, it took an absurd 2500 hours to design using Polyurethane prototyping resin, stainless steel, and pewter components. A single example takes 220 hours to build from 1040 individual pieces.

The Amalgam teams worked closely with Bugatti’s design team to ensure every finish was to the highest specification, right down to the barcodes and labels for each part. At a price of $9,365, we wouldn’t expect anything less. For a Chiron owner who wants to keep a piece of their car on a desk at work, this seems like the perfect accessory.
