Film & television actor Bruce Campbell grew up in Royal Oak, Michigan. And now he’s coming back.
“Bruce-O-Rama” is for fans who love fantasy, horror, sci-fi, superheroes and gaming. Those attending the Royal Oak Music Theatre event on April 23 can experience a two-part event that will also include one of Campbell’s favorite cult films. There are also VIP packages available which include photo ops with Bruce, a signed tour poster and a signed chainsaw.
In his youth, he met filmmaker Sam Raimi at West Maple Junior High School (Inkster rd & Maple rd, Bloomfield Hills, MI), then both attended Groves High School (Beverly Hills, MI) where they shot home movies together.
Bruce left for Western Michigan University and Sam went to Michigan State University.
They reunited in 1978 to film Within The Woods. This film was a prequel to one they shot a few years later called The Evil Dead (1981).
The Evil Dead has its world premiere at the beautiful Redford Theatre (Lahser and Grand River Ave, Detroit) on October 15, 1981.
After that, they made the phenomenal horror movie Evil Dead 2: Dead By Dawn (1987) and the rest is history.
