For over 300-years, the San Jose Spanish Galleon, widely considered to be the “Holy Grail of Shipwrecks,” has sat undiscovered in its watery grave over 1,000ft down below in the Caribbean Sea.
The San Jose was discovered on November 27th, 2015 by the Colombian Navy some 16-miles off the coast of Cartagena, Colombia.
It was sunk on June 8th, 1708 by the British Navy after a fierce battle. Out of the 600 crew of Spaniards onboard, only 11 survived to the tell the tale.
Also onboard that went down with the ship was the largest amount of valuables ever lost at sea: 11 million pieces of gold and silver, plus tons of gems, jewels and more!
The wreck and valuables of the San Jose Spanish Galleon have been currently estimated to be worth up to a shocking $15 BILLION DOLLARS!
