Alan Trammell was one of the best Detroit Tigers players of all-time.

6-time All-Star Detroit Tigers shortstop from 1977 to 1996 who helped lead the team to a World Series Championship in 1984, while taking World Series MVP honors along the way.

He and second baseman Lou Whitaker both debuted for the Tigers on September 9, 1977 against the Boston Red Sox. They would then go on to play 19 years together on the Tigers.

By the time their careers were over, Trammell and Whitaker played in 1,918 games together – the most by any double-play combination in history.

Trammell retired following the 1996 season with six All-Star Game selections, three Silver Slugger Awards and four Gold Glove Awards.

He batted better than . 300 seven times in his career, finishing with a . 285 batting average, 185 home runs, 1,003 RBI, 412 doubles and 2,365 hits.

Trammell was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2018.
