Navy commander Cpn. Mike Abrashoff is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland.
Cpn. Abrashoff co-drafted the air defense plan for naval forces in the Persian Gulf 1990, coinciding with Iraq’s invasion of Kuwait.
Before leaving the Navy in 2001, he is noted for taking command of the USS Benfold. It was the single worst performing ship in the Navy’s Pacific Fleet.
One year later, under Abrashoff’s command, it was the best ship in the Navy with the highest degree of combat readiness AND with the same crew.
Abrashoff’s book “It’s Your Ship” on organization transformation has sold almost one million copies.
