So there we were, driving thru Delray in Southwest Detroit when we suddenly chanced upon a glorious sight at Fordson Street & South Dix Street: one of the old Detroit Boblo boats!
“The SS Ste Clair” is a 190-foot long passenger steamboat. It weighs 870 tons and was built in 1910. This ferry was towed here Wednesday from Ecorse for restoration.
Boblo Island was an amusement park island in the Detroit Rive open from 1898-1993.
