The Detroit Historical Society is organizing a great tour of a fascinating operation in Detroit.
Wayne State University’s Mortuary Science Building is on Woodward Avenue.
Currently, the building houses programs in Applied Health Sciences, Medical Laboratory Science, Mortuary Science and Pathologists’ Assistant, all of which are offered through Wayne State’s Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences.
The guide will discuss the mortuary profession and the program’s curriculum and lead us through the merchandising/selection room, the restorative art lab, the embalming and anatomy labs, and the history museum and memorial tree.
Please note, this tour will feature sensitive topics and will include walking and standing.
