Don’t come dressed as Lex Luthor or bring any Kryptonite to this auction, folks, or you’ll have to sit in the back.
Even to people who know nothing about comic books, they recognize this cover as having undisputed historical importance.
Action Comics #1 was published in June 1938. It’s the first appearance of Superman and widely considered to be the holy grail of comic books.
On Tuesday, December 19th, 2017 at 2:30pm PST (5:30pm EST), 73 Superman lots will be auction off. The main comic (Lot #71) a 7.0 CSG graded copy, will be auctioned off by Profiles in History in Calabasas, California.
June 2018 will be the 80th anniversary of Superman.
That means that 80 years ago, in 1938, DC Comics made the deal of a lifetime when they paid only $130.00 for exclusive rights to Superman.
In 2014, a CGC graded 9.0 copy of Action Comics #1 sold for $3.2mil.
Some of Superman’s powers include:
Persuading people to pay over $1mil for his comic book, heat vision, super strength, arctic breath, super-speed, x-ray vision, super-hearing, and flight, the ability to shoot a completely sentient, miniature version of himself out of his hand that can be used to aid him against enemies, telepathy, telekinesis, hypnotism, ventriloquism, and even amnesia-inducing kissing.
This comic book is a great investment that will only appreciate in value.
