Whacking Day is on May 10th.
Whacking Day was originally thought to be an annual holiday where you drive all the snakes into the town square and club them to death for prizes.
However, as Bob Woodward‘s book proves, the true origins of Whacking Day started in 1924 as an excuse to beat up Irish immigrants.
Today, Whacking Day can be a lot of different things to different people.
Thanks, John Swartzwelder.
