UofM Dearborn’s annual Homecoming Cardboard Boat Race is one of the best things on campus all year-long.
Get involved by cheering on student organizations as they race across the pond, or compete by building a boat out of cardboard.
The races will take place after the homecoming pep rally.
Organizations will race in heats of 4 to 5 teams. The top finishers of each heat will compete in one final race to determine the winning organization.
The top finishers will receive prizes, the # 1 team will receive $100 to be used for an on-campus catering order or a swag purchase from Underground Printing.

Boat race rules:
Teams must have their boat to the pond/checked in for the start of the pep rally at 1:30 pm
The boat structure/frame must be made entirely of cardboard
Teams may use a plastic film material (eg. plastic bags, saran wrap)
Teams may also use tape/duct tape or glue to hold the boat together
Other materials should not be used
If teams use a paddle, paddle must be made from the same materials as the boat
1 team member must captain the boat from the starting point in the chancellor’s pond, to the opposite end, and back
Teams will be responsible for retrieving and disposing of all boat parts after the races have concluded
