The Thing (1982) is a fantastic horror/sci-fi film.
Directed by John Carpenter, the film is based on a short story and an earlier film from 1951 (which is also an amazing movie).
Plot:
A research team in Antarctica is hunted by a shape-shifting alien that assumes the appearance of its victims. The protagonist of the film is R.J. MacReady, played by Kurt Russell.
Fun Fact:
The extraordinary special effects were orchestrated by an eccentric effects expert called Rob Bottin who was only 23-years-old at the time.
