A 15km (9 mile) stretch of highway in Amsterdam is due to be closed off for an EDM party called The Highway Rave celebrating 750 years of the Dutch capital.
In a “first-of-its-kind” event, Amsterdam-based promoters Audio Obscura are set to shut down part of the city’s A10 motorway, a ringroad stretching 32km around the edge of Amsterdam.
The Highway Rave will go ahead for one day only on Saturday, June 21, as a free-to-attend event, with a full programme of artists still yet to be announced.
The event is part of Festival op the Ring, which is celebrating Amsterdam’s 750th anniversary, and features other festivities including a 7.5km run, dance parades and floats, fashion shows, and more.
“As a city you only turn 750 once in your life, and you want to celebrate that with as many people as possible – with Amsterdam residents and everyone who holds the city in their hearts,” reads Festival op the Ring’s website.
“That is why we are celebrating Amsterdam’s 750th birthday on June 21, 2025 – the longest day – on 15 kilometres of car-free Ring A10.”
The party will take place across nine hours, promising some “very special guests” and “wild back-to-backs” over the course of the day.
