Susie Zhao (aka: Susie Q) was a high-stakes poker professional and World Poker Tour star.
Being originally from Beijing, China, and having lived in Los Angeles, California, she went to a K-12 prep school in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, prior to studying psychology at Northwestern University.
According to PokerNews.com, Zhao’s competitive success included “several deep runs” in the World Series of Poker Main Event, where in 2012 she earned $73,805.
Her lifetime earnings totaled $224,671 according to GlobalPokerIndex.com.
Zhao, 33, remains were found badly burned on Monday, July 13, 2020 in the parking lot of Pontiac Lake Recreation Area in White Lake, Michigan.
She was found a day after her mother last saw her.
She arrived in Michigan from Los Angeles a few days prior to “confront challenges in her personal life”, friends told WXYZ-TV.
Details in the report are scant, but police are seeking any tips that can aid the investigation into Zhao’s murder.
Her father Jingping Zhao is deceased. Her mother Fang Dai lives on Watkins Lake in Waterford, Michigan.
