The Society of Forensic Toxicologists (SOFT) is a professional association comprised of practicing forensic toxicologists for the purpose of promoting and developing the field of forensic toxicology.

Toxicology is the study of adverse effects of drugs and chemicals on living organisms.

Forensic toxicology is the analysis of biological samples for the presence of toxins, especially drugs. A toxicologist usually identifies and quantifies the amount of drugs, alcohol, and poisons in biological samples, such as blood, urine, or tissue.
