Michigan native Steve Rinella started the MeatEater podcast, which morphed into a Netflix show, and has become a global hit.
Join Steven Rinella, Janis “The Latvian Eagle” Putelis, trivia master Spencer Neuharth, plus friends and special guests this December for a fun night celebrating the outdoor lifestyle.
The MeatEater crew will deliver laughs, trivia, news, and nostalgia from across the worlds of hunting, fishing, wildlife conservation, and wild foods. This all-ages show that blends curiosity, irreverence and humor is sure to be a highlight of your holiday season.
Rinella is the host of MeatEater, a weekly half-hour hunting show. The show ran for six seasons on Sportsman Channel before moving to Netflix in 2018. The show is based on Rinella’s hunting and fishing adventures in such locations as:
Montana (deer, elk); Alaska (waterfowl, mountain goat, Dall sheep, caribou, black bear, moose); Mexico (wild turkey, buffalo); New Zealand (tahr, chamois, red stag); Arizona (mountain lion, Coues deer); Wisconsin (white-tailed deer, rabbit, beaver, muskrat); and California (wild pigs, quail, and turkey).
Rinella is also a frequent guest on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast hosted by Joe Rogan, the two have also been frequent hunting companions with Rogan appearing on Rinella’s television program MeatEater.
On growing up in Michigna, Rinella says:
I grew up in Twin Lake, Michigan in Muskegon County, and was surrounded by hunting, fishing, and trapping opportunities. We fished Lake Michigan, Muskegon and White Lakes, plus tons of other ponds and creeks and lakes in our area. My brothers and I could walk from our house to hunt squirrels, and we trapped muskrats on our own lake. We even caught a mink about 200 yards from our house. We were generalists, obviously, up for any kind of outdoor activity. That’s still my philosophy today. I’ll chase everything from bullfrogs to muskox as long as the eating is good.
