Patrick Harrison is known as “Lord of the Gourd” for his amazing pumpkin-carving abilities.

Harrison’s artistic background is in cartoon-drawing and he’s also a musician.

Harrison also provided tips for pumpkin carving:

He recommends not hollowing out the pumpkin until after the carving is done, rather than the other way around. He said in this way, the carver can push down on the pumpkin without worrying that it may collapse in on itself. His other tips included hollowing out the pumpkin as thin as possible to get the most light shining through and using Christmas lights instead of a candle or LED light.

Born in 1962, Harrison grew up in Traverse City and currently lives in Prudenville, near Houghton Lake.
