Battle the Coronavirus the right way. Use a Japanese Lingerie Bra Face Mask.
Atsumi Fashion Co., a company based in Toyama Prefecture, Japan is producing masks by re-purposing women’s underwear. The company began utilizing the cloth lining from bras after an employee realized similar materials were being used in disposable masks.
Hiroshi Hinata, the company’s sales manager said:
We hope we can contribute to society as the mask shortage continues. Even these masks can prevent the virus from spreading to others through coughing or sneezing.
The bra face masks went on sale on April 18, 2020 for 1,490 Yen (US$14). Thinking that it might just be some social media hype, the company made only 250 units.
They sold out in 30 seconds.
Due to the overwhelming response, the company has announced that a new batch of lace bra masks is underway.
