Iggy Pop and filmmaker Jim Jarmusch themselves will be live, in-person at the Detroit Film Theatre to discuss Jarmsuch’s new documentary ‘Gimme Danger,’ about legendary sixties Michigan punk band Iggy & The Stooges!
Quick Timeline:
1947-Iggy born in Ypsilanti, Michigan. He grows up at Coachville Gardens Trailer Park (3423 Carpenter rd, Ypsilanti).
1965-Iggy moves to Ann Arbor. He lives at Blakely Court Apts. (Division and Hill) and Wolverine Tower (536 S. Forest) while working as a stock boy at Discount Records (300 S. State).
1966-Iggy Pop meets Andy Warhol at the Ann Arbor Film Festival.
1967-Iggy founds band ‘Iggy and The Stooges‘.
Summer 1967-Stooges live together at the first Stooge House (1324 Forest Ct).
1968–The Fun House/ Stooge Manor (2666 Packard) Nico is a frequent guest.
1960s-70s-The Stooges play venues all over Michigan: Grande Ballroom, Old Miami Bar, Fifth Dimension, etc.
1971-New York City-Iggy meets David Bowie at Max’s Kansas City, sparking a life-long friendship and recurring musical collaboration.
1976-Iggy is heavily addicted to drugs and voluntarily checks into UCLA’s mental health hospital. He gets out and moves to Berlin, Germany with David Bowie.
1980-Iggy Pop meets a young Johnny Depp and they eventually become good friends.
1980’s-present-Iggy pop lives in Palmetto Bay, Florida, still tours widely and still kicks-ass on-stage.
