Freedom Boat Club kicks off the opening of the 2018 season with a bang!
Summer is here and we are open for business!
The Freedom staff welcomed our members with a kick-off party at Bumper’s Landing and awarded the members with our newest addition to the Freedom fleet, the 2018 Veranda Tri-toon powered by Yamaha’s latest 4 stroke 175 HP Vmax.
FBC of Lake St. Clair doubled the fleet in 2 years, and are looking to purchase more boats and develop additional locations as the membership grows.
FREE KIDS’ FISHING DERBY AT METRO BEACH PARK
Freedom Boat Club along with Tow Boat US, US Auto Supply, and Gemini Electric is sponsoring Harrison Township’s 14th Annual Fishing Derby:
When: Saturday, June 9, 2018 from 8 AM – 11 Am
Where: St Clair Metro Park (Metro Beach) – 31300 Metropolitan Pkwy, Harrison Twp, MI 48045 – Meet at the Boat Launch Area.
Cost: No fee outside of Park Entrance
Details: Catch a lunker and win great prizes.
The event is open to all children 16 and younger. This year’s derby will kick off at 8 a.m. with registrations being accepted at that time. Fishing will continue through 11 a.m. with a lunch of hot dogs, chips and refreshments available at 11:30 a.m. All children who sign up for the derby must be accompanied by an adult, and only children 16 and younger can compete for prizes based on the size, weight and species of the fish they catch. There is no limit to the number of fish that can be caught. Prizes will be awarded by age group: 4-7, 8-12 and 13-16. Participants must bring their own fishing equipment and bait, and a local volunteer will be on hand to teach children in attendance how to tie a line.
Everyone can expect to have a memorable Free Fishing Weekend, rain or shine. It is really a fun and great time for the kids. Registration: REGISTRATION FORM. Please complete the registration form and return to the registration table on the day of the derby. For more information, please call 586-466-1400 ext. 1552 or ext. 1553
Like most fishing derby’s, the largest fish is caught by the most patient fisherman. Last year’s winner, Kevin Garnett, landed this lunker 9” Blue Gill with only 3 minutes left in the derby.
