Imagine going to school and getting paid to experiment with marijuana. That’s right, getting high on your own supply. At school. And getting paid while you do it. This is not a dream. This is really happening at it’s happening at Ole Miss.
The University of Mississippi’s School of Pharmacy is the only facility in the United States permitted by the federal government to cultivate and study cannabis.
The name of the program is the “Marijuana Research Project” and it’s massive lab is housed inside the Cochran Research Center on the campus of the University of Mississippi.
M-Project also has a 12-acre compound of 30,000 marijuana plants behind the baseball stadium!
Originally commissioned in 1968, the program started when the DEA gave them some Mexican marijuana seeds to germinate.
The entire program is funded by a $68-million dollar federal grant from the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA).
