Elden Ring is an upcoming action RPG courtesy of Japanese company FromSoftware.
The game is directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki and was made in collaboration with fantasy novelist George R.R. Martin who wrote the overarching mythos.
Elden Ring has won the Most Anticipated Game award at the annual Game Awards for two years in a row!
And yes, there are multiple poison swamps in the game.
Plot
Elden Ring takes place in the realm of the Lands Between, sometime after the destruction of the titular Elden Ring and the scattering of its shards, the Great Runes. Once graced by the Ring and the Erdtree which symbolizes its presence, the realm is now ruled over by the demigod offspring of Queen Marika the Eternal, each possessing a shard of the Ring that corrupts and taints them with power. As a Tarnished—exiles from the Lands Between who lost the Ring’s grace—summoned back after the Shattering, players must traverse the realm to ultimately find all the Great Runes, restore the Elden Ring, and become the Elden Lord.
Elden Ring has confirmed co-op multi-player for up to 4 players.
Elden Ring producer Yasuhiro Kitao confirmed that the main campaign is about 30 hours. “This will differ significantly by player, but in terms of the targets set during development, the idea is that the main route should be able to be completed within around 30 hours,” Kitao said. “The game as a whole is quite massive, and contains many dozens more hours worth of gameplay, but if we are talking about the main route only, it shouldn’t take much longer than that.”
Elden Ring is set to release on February 25, 2022 on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X | S, and PC.
