Built in 2010 in Haugesund, Norway, the Draken Harald Harfagre is the largest Viking ship built in modern times.
This Viking longship is 115 feet long, 26 feet wide , it’s an open wood ship with one large square sail, travels at 14 knots and is rowed by 100 oarsmen!
Currently, the Draken is on it’s East Coast USA tour in NYC.
The Viking Age lasted from 800-1066 AD.
In 1906, the Oseberg Ship (c. 800’s AD), the best preserved Viking ship ever found, was discovered in Norway. You can view it at The Viking Ship Museum in Oslo, Norway.
