Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has introduced a bill to legalize marijuana for recreational use in Canada.
“Canada’s current system of marijuana prohibition does not work. Too many Canadians end up with criminal records for possessing small amounts of marijuana,” Trudeau said.
Once passed, the caveats of the bill are:
- You have to be 18 and up to smoke
- Can possess a maximum of 30 grams in public
- Houses can grow up to 4 marijuana plants
Canada currently has 43 licensed commercial growers/suppliers. It is unknown if you would still have to buy from these regulated growers or not.
The bill goes into effect July 1st, 2018.
