Freep Film Festival is thrilled to open its 2021 festival with the world premiere of “Boblo Boats: A Detroit Ferry Tale“.
Before Boblo Island was shut down in 1993, thousands of Detroiters reached the amusement park by way of two steamships: the S.S. Columbia and the Ste. Claire.
Who remembers Captain Bob-Lo ?
Narrated by Motown legend Martha Reeves, this film explores the rich history of the island and its boats, as well as the stories of the preservationists trying to save them from the scrapyard.
In addition to the screening, Opening Night will include a pre-film VIP party and post-film panel discussion.
