“Violent men were kept here, and some never left-even after death.”-MRPS
Yes, this haunted house was a real prison for over 100 years. Hard to beat that sort of genuinely spooky authenticity.
The Ohio State Reformatory was open 1886-1990. Featuring a cool Gothic architecture design, the main building is on a 40-acre complex.
The film The Shawshank Redemption was shot here in 1993 and Marilyn Manson has done photo shoots here.
Every year the Mansfield Reformatory Preservation Society puts on one of the best haunted houses in the USA here.
This year it’s called Blood Prison and it’s run by haunt director Vic Amesquita.
The OSR is in the tiny town of Mansfield, Ohio, which is 1hr NE of Columbus and 1hr30m SW of Cleveland.
