Stanley Kubrick’s 1971 film, A Clockwork Orange, looks at a bleak future, focusing on gang leader Alex (Malcolm McDowell) and society’s attempts to turn him away from his love of Beethoven and ultra-violence.

This beautiful 35mm film print is presented by the Motor City Cinema Society.

Kubrick described his film as, “A social satire dealing with the question of whether behavioral psychology and psychological conditioning are dangerous new weapons for a totalitarian government to use to impose vast controls on its citizens and turn them into little more than robots or not.”

Fun factoid:

Originally, filmmaker Ken Russell was supposed to direct and Mick Jagger of the Rolling Stones was supposed to star as Alex!

Okay, one more factoid: David Prowse, who plays the manservant Julian, also played Darth Vader in the original “Star Wars” trilogy.
