The Western Michigan Broncos and the Central Michigan Chippewas have been football rivals since 1907!
Both teams are in the West Division of the Mid-American Conference.
As such, every year WMU plays CMU and there are massive tailgate parties in both Kalamazoo, Michigan (home of the Broncos) and Mount Pleasant, Michigan (home of the Chippewas).
The rivals battle for the Victory Cannon trophy. Currently, the Broncos have the trophy, which resides in a glass case in the lobby of the Bill Brown Football Center @ WMU’s Waldo Stadium, with a clock counting down the next meeting between the two rivals.
They will also compete for the Michigan MAC trophy. So, this is a battle for two trophies!
Tailgate lots open at the stadium at 11am.
There are parties on and off campus.
