The promotional incident took place at one of the gas stations in the city of Samara in south-western Russias Samara Oblast region, where local media flocked to take pictures of the girls turning up for the free offer. The strange promotion was organized by the owners of the gas station to publicise their "attractive prices" and it lasted for three hours with customers queueing down the street. The only qualification apart from turning up in a bikini was that the women needed to fill the tank up themselves without anybody else helping. The need to go to inside to tell the attendant the pump number, and the petrol was then provided for free. Only participants who completed these requirements had right to get free petrol. Online commentators noted that photos showed that not only model-looks alike decided to use their body to get free fuel. The point out that plenty of the girls who participated in the promotion were rather plump, although it seemed that the offer did not women with more expensive cars as most of the vehicles were relatively bottom of the range.
