Waterford Hills Racetrack in Clarkston

Dubbed “the best kept secret in Southeast Michigan,” the Waterford Hills Road Racing track (Clarkston, Michigan) offers a slate of races throughout large portions of the year, including Open Track Days, Club and Vintage Races along with the periodic Driver’s School events, there’s no shortage of excitement and variety.

This is a 1.5 mile road racing track (not an oval) with right and left turns, hills and straight-aways. The fastest cars hit over 120mph on the back straight just before heavy braking to make a 90 degree right-hand turn. With one corner speed as low 25mph and another at 80mph, there’s a lot of acceleration and braking every lap.

Races are run in accordance with the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) competition rules, and all cars must pass SCCA technical inspection.

Every April they host an SCCA accredited drivers school to bring new drivers to this type of racing.

The track is also open to the public on Open Track Days. Bring your favorite street car, or partially race prepped street car out, and you can try your hand at lapping the track. All you need is a valid driver’s license, seat belts, and a helmet.
