His video features Stitches replete with gold grills, AK-47 and mouth-crease stitches tattooed on his face, brandishing an actual AK-47 and talking about “I love sellin’ blow!” while cutting between his buddy, a man in a Pinhead full-head Halloween mask of the Pinhead character from Hellrazier, slicing open and tossing around bricks of cocaine inside a room.
In the public persona of Stitches, we see a blend of Insane Clown Posse, Riff-Raff and The Joker. Stitches has been accused of massive fraud, wanton fakery and not truly practicing what he preaches. Since we’ve never met Stitches and don’t know him personally, we cannot confirm or deny these claims.
What we do know is there’s been a tremendous rise in the amount of dubious celebrities recently, those who are propelled to viral internet stardom by virtue of their beings creators of controversy and not focused on the quality of their art. Fastest way to skyrocket to internet popularity? Become a magnet for haters, become a pop-culture target for the constant stream of vile vitrol that people love to spew.
Online comments from random people about Stitches music:
– “This is a convincing argument for suicide.”
– “Most lyrically brilliant songwriter of our generation.”
– “What’s your next song gonna be called? I talk shit like a tough guy then get knocked out like a bitch?”
– “Stitches makes garbage music, he’s an attention whore and only fucktards listen to it.”
This appears to be a case of: getting popular and going viral by any means necessary. However, Stitches might just be a self-marketing genius.
He is obviously willing to go to extremes of self-sacrifice, transforming himself into a human billboard for toxic lifestyles, just to get some love. Everything Stitches does is a conversation piece. His ethos, intensity and raw emotion are oddly captivating.
It would be easy to chalk this up to the “folly of youth”. However, one wonders to what extent the toxic combination of lack of parenting, poor self-image, personal agony suffered and need to be loved, have reduced Stitches to this cornball caricature of a rapper.
We here at the JobbieCrew love Stitches for the lively and hilarious comment streams his music causes on the internet. But we do wonder, how long will it be before someone puts a hit out on Stitches and he winds up tagged and bagged on a Miami-Dade County Morgue slab? Only time will tell.
In the meantime, to each his own baby, live and let live!
