Allseas Pioneering Spirit (formerly named the Pieter Schelte), is a monster of a ship.
Designed to lift entire oil rigs out of the water and eat them like bite-sized cupcakes, the APS is 403,000 tons, over 1500-feet long, over 400-feet wide, has a 98-foot draft (hull depth), 8 gigantic hydraulic arms and 572 crew members!
The ship was build for $1.7 billion dollars for Ducthman Edward Heerema by Daewoo Shipyard in South Korea.
