World’s Deepest Mailbox: the Susami Underwater Mailbox in Japan!

Susami, Wakayama, Japan is a fishing town with an underwater mailbox!

Located 33-feet underwater in Susami Bay, the mailbox was setup in 1999 by 70-year old Toshihiko Matsumoto to promote Japan’s ancient Kumano Kodo pilgrimage.

Over 1,500 pieces of mail pass thru this box every year.

An employee of the Yamatani Dive Shop swims down to collect it.
